If you were around for the first The Pup Pups album Who Wants Din-Din? you know that it was a 15 years in the works collection of songs about our pets (and some songs actually sung by them). Over a decade of work went into getting these silly ditties out of my head and onto an album. I left it all on the table. That was it. No more. I got it done while the last surviving member of the original The Pup Pups line-up Harvey was still with us. It was my life's work and that was the one album The Pup Pups would ever have. I had no unfinished songs left to record, and even if I did have more ideas, there was no way I'd get them done while our 16 year old Harvey was still here...

And then on January 2nd, 2024, I recorded "He's Doing Great" and "Little Bad Wolf," two new ideas that had sprung up towards the end of 2023 and they came out SO GOOD. Still, best case scenario I could maybe put out a couple singles right? Or maybe get an EP done by Harvey's 17th birthday in November? If we're lucky I could get that done, right? But somehow, by February 1st, I had 14 new songs done for a whole new album about these rascally little monsters.

From the bizarre acoustic strums of "Grasshopper Invasion" to the K-Pop ode to wet food "Can Can" to the goth-tinged "Chasing Shadows Again" to the no frills rock & roll of "Back 2 My Old Tricks" to the deranged country-ish opener "What're We Gonna Do Today?" Variety Snaps is a collection of songs that expands on the personalities of our pets and continues to celebrate all their weridest and cutest eccentricities... And mine too.

A music video for the power ballad about Neoguri "Mona Lisa Smile" is already out, and videos are on the way for the hard-rockin' "Barko!" and the industrial punk wet food banger "CLICK." Maybe more videos will happen too and if I was able to make a 2nd album... Who knows... Maybe Harvey will get another album under his belt while he's still here... After all, he's doin' great!
